I am the Frederick H. Rawson Professor and the Director of the Center for Data Intensive Science (CDIS) at the University of Chicago. My research group focuses on data science, data intensive computing and bioinformatics.

I have led the development of several data commons, including:

I am a Professor and Co-Chief in the Section of Computational Biomedicine and Biomedical Data Science in the Department of Medicine. I am also a Professor of Computer Science and Senior Fellow in the Computation Institute and in the Institute for Genomics and Systems Biology (IGSB).

I have participated in the development of open source software to transport (UDT), manage (Sector) and analyze (Augustus) big data.
