Biomedical Data Commons

May 12, 2014

Large scale data commons are now practical due the maturing of data center scale computing and are needed due to the growth of big data in biology, medicine and health care, especially genomic data.

On May 12, 2014, I gave the keynote at The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) 3rd Annual Symposium. You can find my slides at www.slideshare.net/rgrossman.

I spoke about big data and data science and its potential impact on cancer genomics. I also discussed the role of biomedical data commons in managing and analyzing petabyte scale collections of genomic and cinical data.
